Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of a FY2022 Collaborative Crisis Response and Intervention Training Program grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a FY2022 Collaborative Crisis Response and Intervention Training Program grant from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance in the amount of $250,000 with a city share of $0 and a grantor share of $250,000. The purpose of the grant is to provide advanced crisis intervention training for 100 sworn members to improve law enforcement and public safety response to individuals who have behavioral health conditions, and/or intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities.
Body
Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.475, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice to provide advanced crisis intervention training for 100 sworn members to improve law enforcement and public safety response to individuals who have behavioral health conditions, and/or intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/1/2022 to 9/30/2025 would cost $250,000 of which, $0 would be provided by the city and $250,000 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the FY2022 Special Revenue - Grant and Aid Projects the following amounts for the program/project titled FY2022 Advanced CIT Program Grant:
