Title:
Resolution relating to a list of those individuals and entities identified as education operators under s. 119.61, Wis. Stats.
Analysis:
This resolution identifies a list of those individuals and entities who have submitted letters of interest for certain eligible school buildings that have been deemed “education operators” eligible to negotiate for and potentially purchase these eligible school buildings.
The determination of which individuals and entities do or do not qualify as education operators is reposed to the Common Council by s. 119.61(4)(c)1., Wis. Stats.
Body:
Whereas, Under s. 119.61(3)(b), Wis. Stats., the City of Milwaukee, on January 26, 2016, posted a list of eligible school buildings, soliciting letters of interest from prospective purchasers; and
Whereas, Responses were received from seven prospective purchasers; and
Whereas, Section 119.61(4)(c)1., Wis. Stats., reposes to the Common Council the determination as to whether prospective purchasers of eligible school buildings are or are not “education operators” under the definition given in s. 119.61(1)(a) and are therefore eligible to negotiate for and potentially purchase these buildings; and
Whereas, The Common Council’s Zoning, Neighborhoods, and Development Committee met on March 22, 2016, to consider each of the individuals and entities submitting letters of interest; and
Whereas, Based on these deliberations, the Committee recommended that those individuals and entities included in the attached appendix be identified as education operators for the purposes of s. 119.61 Wis. Stats.; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that those individuals and entities included in the attached appendix are identified as education operators for the purposes of s. 119.61, Wis. Stats.
