Title

Substitute resolution authorizing the donation of certain impounded motorcycles.

Analysis

This resolution permits the Department of Public Works to, at the discretion of the Commissioner of Public Works, donate impounded motorcycles from the City tow lot to BikerFest Mke for the purpose of supporting the organization’s youth outreach programs.

Body

Whereas, City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances s. 105-65-4-b permits the Commissioner of Public Works, after appropriate notice, to sell or dispose of any vehicle or trailer impounded at the City’s tow lot; and

 

Whereas, BikerFest Mke is a Milwaukee non-profit offering youth-focused programs, including the Sliders Flat Track Racing Program, which gives youth the opportunity to work on donated motorcycles to provide hands-on experiences in motorcycle design and technology; and

 

Whereas, In 2024, the City established the Emerging Youth Achievement Advisory Council with the purpose of creating partnerships that engage local government, youth, and other stakeholders within the city who are dedicated to improving outcomes for underrepresented youth; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works is authorized to, at the discretion of the Commissioner of Public Works, donate motorcycles impounded by the City to BikerFest Mke; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works and appropriate City officials are authorized to execute the donation agreement between the Department of Public Works and BikerFest Mke.
