Whereas, Milwaukee’s most vulnerable residents rely on state investment in supportive housing projects provided by the Wisconsin Housing Preservation Corporation (WHPC); and
Whereas, WHPC has added just 906 units over 7 years, which is far below its prior preservation rate; and
Whereas, WHPC and has reduced its investment in preserving affordable housing from 92 percent of funding to just 3 percent; and
Whereas, Only one percent of WHPC’s investments over the last nine years were made in Milwaukee, despite Milwaukee suffering one of the highest poverty rates in the state; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Common Council File Number 241415, adopted January 21, 2025, is amended by inserting the following item into the document attached to the file titled “2025-26 State Legislative Package”:
