Resolution relative to application, acceptance, and funding of a Drug Recognition Expert Field Certification grant.
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept, and fund a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Field Certification grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $27,360. The purpose of this grant is to fund overtime in order for officers to provide the DRE candidates who are in the DRE class with subjects who are impaired by drugs other than alcohol.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Field Certification grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 09/23/11 to 10/15/11 would cost $27,360 of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code Ordnances; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2011 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: DRE Field Certification Grant:
