Title

Analysis

This resolution approves an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement between the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee and the City of Milwaukee regarding data-sharing related to elevated blood lead levels of children residing in Housing Authority housing. It further requires quarterly updates to the Common Council.

Body

Whereas, The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) is a public housing agency subject to the Lead Safe Housing Rule (LSHR) issued by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); and

 

Whereas, The Milwaukee Health Department is a contractual agent of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and is required to provide a lead hazard investigation for each child who tests with an elevated blood lead level as defined under Wisconsin law; and

 

Whereas, HACM and the City desire to collaborate to proactively address lead hazards in HUD-assisted housing within the City by an exchange of information in compliance with the LSHR; now, therefore be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are authorized to execute an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement between the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee and the City of Milwaukee in a form substantially similar to the agreement attached to this file; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee is urged to provide quarterly updates to the Common Council as a result of this data-sharing agreement.
