Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Fire Department to accept and fund the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Flex Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Division of Public Health, Office of Preparedness and Emergency Healthcare’s EMS Section in the amount of $122,975. This is an additional funding source for Milwaukee Fire Department’s EMS Division to help stabilize mobile healthcare providers impacted by economic disruptions resulting from COVID-19.

Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Division of Public Health, Office of Preparedness and Emergency Healthcare’s EMS Section to help stabilize mobile healthcare providers impacted by economic disruptions resulting from COVID-19; and

Whereas, The Milwaukee Fire Department will use grant funds for Emergency Medical Services equipment purchases and Counter Narcotics and Terrorism Operational Medical Support (CONTOMS) training; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 09/30/2022 to 09/23/23 would cost $122,975 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is authorized and the Fire Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2022 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Project fund, the following amount for the project titled Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Flex Grant:
