Resolution relating to application, acceptance, and funding of the 2022-23 ReCAST grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept, and fund the 2022-23 ReCAST program as part of a 5-year award from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services in the amount of $1,000,000 with a City share of $0 and a grantor share of $1,000,000. The funding will allow continuation of evidence-based violence prevention and community youth engagement programs to assist high-risk youth and families and promote resilience and equity.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Service to provide evidence-based violence prevention and community youth engagement programs; and

Whereas, Carrying out this grant program from September 30, 2022 to September 29, 2023 will cost $1,000,000 comprised of $1,000,000 grantor share and $0 City share; now, therefore, be it;

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

Further Resolved, that the Commissioner of Health or her designee is authorized to execute the grant agreement in substantially the same form as the agreement included in this file; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent account of the 2022 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled VP-Recast Milwaukee Project:
