7/20/20220 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE HELD TO CALL OF THE CHAIR

Minutes note: Mike Amsdem - DPW- said that several projects that are on the works and gave the following report: The ARPA funded for reckless driving initiative said that 9 projects are advertised now and that the bids open on July 28th (next week) and that the construction will start this year. -Advertizing traffic calming work around Midtown and that bids open earlier in August. -Advertizing traffic calming work near the Manpower campus. He added that he does not know if these two projects will start this year but the contracts will be awarded this year. -8 school projects around the city - the contract have been awarded and the work will start early August. -Speedhumps (the last batch was approved today) -Speed limit RP (it was released and proposals are due on July 29th) with 2 prompts: one for city wide marketing and awareness campaign and the other piece for speed limit on the streets. He added that there is no schedule yet. Scooter program: The proposals were due and received 4 proposals that are being reviewed right now. Van Buren St. Project: the design consultants will be selected on the coming weeks. Water St - Third Ward - there is no funding in place to hire a consultant yet. Bike Route on Jefferson - this is coming after the Van Buren St to connect it with the Beerline as well and probably on the works over the winter next year.

6/29/20220 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE HELD TO CALL OF THE CHAIR

Minutes note: Mr. Jerell Kruschke - DPW - Said that the speed hump requests for this year is about to end with the 60 speeds humps coming up on July 20th. He reported that a total of 270 speed humps will be approved and built this year. He added that any coming requests will be for the 2023 season at a cost of $6.50 per lineal foot since the ARPA funds have been used. Mr. Kruschke said that speed humps are popular because they are requested by the residents and that traffic circles are assessable projects as well at a cost of $4.60 per lineal foot. He said that the department is actively applying for grants and that the whole campaign to reduce the speed limits is about to come out.

6/8/20220 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE HELD TO CALL OF THE CHAIR

Minutes note: Mr. Kruschke said that 83 different projects have been approved so far and that the first contract will start on the week of the 4th of July. He added that 2nd contract will be advertise on July as well and the 3rd contract after that. Mr. Kruschke explained that once the project is advertised, it takes about 2 months to get started and that residents will see a full impact in August.

5/18/20220 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE HELD TO CALL OF THE CHAIR

Minutes note: Mike Amsden - DPW - said that the 8 traffic calming projects are completed for advertisement and that they will be constructed this year. Added that seven other projects are on the analysis phase (engineering). As for the speed humps Mr. Amsden said that the queue is down to zero and 87 requests are out for survey. Added that new calming traffic proposals from the common council members can be send to Jerrel Kruschke. Mr. Amsden stated that speed limit project is coming out soon.

4/27/20220 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE HELD TO CALL OF THE CHAIR

Minutes note: Jerell Kruschke - Acting DPW Commissioner said that there were 109 speed humps in the queue and that it is down to 16. Added that the first contract will be advertised two weeks from now. Mike Amsden - DPW - talked about the nine (9) ARPA projects that have been pushed forward package will be advertised in May $3.8 M for reckless driving and that they are intended to slow down the speeds, prevent from passing on the right and get things out quickly and effectively.

2/17/20220 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE HELD TO CALL OF THE CHAIR

Minutes note: Jerrell Kruschke - DPW - gave the following speed humps report: -171 requests have been received -70 requests in the queue (129 on the last cycle) -56 requests are out in survey, -10 were approved today -5 already approved (last cycle) -12 requests have been rejected due negative postcard survey or because did not meet the criteria. Ald. Stamper asked for a clarification of the cost. Mr. Kruschke explained that the assessment rate is $2.00 per lineal foot vs $6.50 per lineal foot that used to be in the past and that the new assessment fee is listed on all of the notifications that are mailed out.

Minutes note: Jerrel Kruschke - DPW City Engineer said that the ARPA dollars have been received and that 160 speed humps have been requested with 109 sitting in the queue and that hey have started to schedule them like we have seen on item 1 this morning.

Minutes note: Jerrell Kruschke - DPW said that there are not a lot of updates except for the speed humps requests that will start to come through. Added that they have received 159 requests so far. Ald. Stamper asked how those requests were made. Mr. Kruschke said that they came from different sources: the aldermanic offices referring people to them, the tv news, and that the website will be updated. Ald. Perez if these 159 requests are already in the queue. Mr. Kruschke said that they are in the queue and just waiting for the assessable rate to drop to start to send the notices and that there was delay because of the change on the assessable rate and did not want to confuse the constituents by sending two different notices. Ald. Perez asked how much further we can go with the ARPA dollars for the speed humps. Mr. Kuschke said that about 300-320 speed humps estimated assessment value. Ald. Perez asked if after these 300-320 speed humps we will go back to the prior cost of $6.50 Mr. Kruschke said that we will need to come back to committee for that matter.
