Substitute resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a 2020 Operation Legend grant.

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a 2020 Operation Legend grant from the Wisconsin Department of Justice in the amount of $1,347,142. The purpose of this initiative is to support the Department’s involvement in Operation Legend. This operation will enable local law enforcement officers to participate in federal task force efforts to reduce violent crime within the City of Milwaukee.

Whereas, Under CFDA#16.738, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the WI Department of Justice, and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 2/01/2021 to 09/30/2023 would cost $1,347,142, of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2021 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: 2020 Operation Legend:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award...
