Substitute resolution relating to the renewal of the sister city relationship between the City of Milwaukee and Bomet County, Kenya.
Analysis
This resolution approves the renewal of a sister city relationship between the City of Milwaukee and Bomet County, Kenya. This sister city relationship shall expire 5 years after the adoption of this resolution unless extended for another 5 years by Common Council resolution.

Body
Whereas, The Common Council created the Sister Cities Committee to assist in the establishment and maintenance of sister city relationships pursuant to Sister Cities International guidelines; and

Whereas, The Sister Cities Committee reviews requests for new relationships, investigates and makes recommendations to the Common Council concerning the establishment of new relationships and the maintenance or termination of existing sister city relationships; and

Whereas, The Sister Cities Committee has reviewed the renewal application of Bomet County, Kenya, and recommends that a sister city relationship continue pursuant to ch. 335 of the Code; and

Whereas, The sister city relationship between the City of Milwaukee and Bomet County, Kenya will continue to benefit both cities in the areas of economic development, health care, education, cultural exchange, social awareness and tourism; and

Whereas, This sister city relationship will receive local support through the nonprofit Milwaukee African Women’s Association; and

Whereas, The sister city relationship will receive support in Bomet County through Bomet Development Trust; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the renewal of a sister city relationship between the City of Milwaukee and the Bomet County, Kenya, is approved; and, be it

Further Resolved, That this sister city relationship is extended for 5 years after adoption of this resolution and shall expire...
