Title

Substitute resolution relative to the acceptance and funding of the 2021 Lead Detection Grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept and fund the 2021 Lead Detection Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services in the amount of $255,662 provided by the grantor with no city match. The purpose of the grant is to assure children that are lead poisoned are identified early and receive the interventions needed for health child development.

 

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services for the 2021 Lead Detection Grant for early identification of lead poisoned children; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 01/01/2021 to 12/31/2021 would cost $255,662 provided by grantor with no city match and; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2021 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled 2021 Lead Detection Grant:

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:

 

1.  Expend from the amount budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;

 

2.  Expend from the 2021 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment;

 

3.  Expend from the 2021 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff;

 

4.  Enter into subcontracts as detailed in the grant budget; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2021 Positions Ordinance, C.C. File 200537, should be amended as follows:
