Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept, and fund the 2020 - 2023 Milwaukee Safer Communities for Youth Program Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Violence Against Women in the amount of $523,753, grantor share $500,000 (96%) and city match $23,753 (4%). The purpose expand the City of Milwaukee’s Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault to mobilize a response team to guide and bolster this project, providing effective crisis intervention and direct services to youth victims to support safety and healing from trauma.

BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Violence Against Women to mobilize a response team to guide and bolster this project, providing effective crisis intervention and direct services to youth victims to support safety and healing from trauma; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant program from 10/01/20 to 09/30/23 would cost $523,753 with $500,000 entirely provided by the grantor and $23,753 city match; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application of this grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Violence Against Women is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent account of the 2020 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Milwaukee Safer Communities for ...
