HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
|
Minutes note: Mr. Tim Askin said the proposed bridge is realistic and acceptable and the former railings could not be replicated as too much open space between the bars. The major point of concern is all the material is pressure-treated lumber. Other materials are impractical, so staff recommends a more natural stain on the lumber and that the incision marks that are typical be not exposed. Round timbers will be used to make it more historic and rustic. Cedar would be an inappropriate option for this bridge as all the bridges were constructed of trees in the park. Staff recommends approval with conditions related to color and incision exposure. The Wisconsin Historical Society declared no adverse effect.
Jennifer Meyer - Lake Park Friends - the Wisconsin Historical Society approved both the demolition and the new construction. The work will be paid for by Lake Park Friends.
