Analysis
This resolution directs the Department of City Development to recommend not fewer than 5 policy and program initiatives designed to equitably distribute the benefits accruing to Downtown through investments and development projects in Downtown to economically-challenged areas of the city outside of Downtown.
Body
Whereas, Significant investment and development has occurred in Downtown Milwaukee in recent years, and is expected to continue into the future; and
Whereas, These investments and developments have injected new life and vitality into Downtown; and
Whereas, Economically-challenged areas of the city outside of Downtown languish, and have not benefited from investments and developments occurring in Downtown; and
Whereas; It is incumbent on the city to adopt policy and program initiatives to equitably distribute the benefits accruing to Downtown through investments and development projects in Downtown to economically-challenged areas of the city outside of Downtown; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of City Development is directed to recommend not fewer than 5 policy and program initiatives to equitably distribute the benefits accruing to Downtown through investments and development projects in Downtown to economically-challenged areas of the city outside of Downtown; and, be it
Further Resolved, These recommendations shall be reported to the Common Council within 60 days of adoption of this resolution.
