Body
Whereas, On December 1, 2009, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee (“Common Council”) approved the West Side Area Comprehensive Plan as a component of the City of Milwaukee Comprehensive Plan; and

Whereas, The West Side Area Comprehensive Plan identified revitalization and redevelopment opportunities in the West Burleigh Street Business Improvement District (“BID No. 27”) and identified the St. Joseph Hospital Campus as a major institutional anchor for the district; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) Department of City Development (“DCD”) is working with BID No. 27 and other area stakeholders, including residents and business owners, to explore redevelopment and design solutions for specific, underutilized sites along West Burleigh Street including underutilized portions of the St. Joseph Hospital Campus; and

Whereas, Neighborhood stakeholders and property owners will participate in a design charette with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Community Design Solutions (“CDS”), focusing on five to six high-priority commercial corridor redevelopment sites; and

Whereas, CDS has conducted several design charettes in neighborhoods throughout Milwaukee that have led to the redevelopment of properties; and
