Title

Resolution authorizing acceptance of two quit claim deeds from the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, for portions of property along East Clybourn Street and North Harbor Drive (Lakefront Gateway) for dedication as public right-of-way purposes for street purposes, in the 4th Aldermanic District.

Analysis

This resolution permits the City of Milwaukee to accept two quit claim deeds to acquire property and to dedicate the property for public right-of-way for street purposes.

Body

Whereas, Since the reconstruction of the Lakefront Gateway and the interchanges associated with it, the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (“DPW”) has been working with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation on conveying two (2) strips of land (“Property”) to the City of Milwaukee (“City”), the legal descriptions of which are attached hereto and made part of this Common Council File; and

 

Whereas, The properties to be acquired and dedicated as public right-of-way are illustrated in Exhibit A, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File, and are described below:

 

That part of Northeast quarter of the Southwest quarter of Section 28, Township 07 North, Range 22 East, in the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, State of Wisconsin, described as:

 

1. Commencing at the Southeast corner of said Southwest quarter; thence North 00o24’46” East along the east line of said Southeast quarter, 1,997.15 feet to the reference line of Clybourn Street; thence South 85o49’47” West along said reference line, 186.51 feet; thence South 03o37’41” West, 1.60 feet to the point of beginning; thence continuing South 03o37’41” West, 82.18 feet; thence South 85o49’47” West, 28.13 feet; thence South 20o14’03” West 34.65 feet to a point on curve with a radius of 2,471.42 feet; thence along said curve to the left with a long chord bearing of South 17o57’03” West and long chord of 196.91 feet, a distance of 196.96 feet; thence South 15o40’04” West, 162.08 feet; thence North 73o30’27” West, 120.11 feet; thence North 23o30’49” East 185.37 feet; thence North 18o43’10” East, 173.57 feet; thence South 85o49’47” West, 495.24 feet; thence North 07o48’07” East, 54.18 feet to the south line of Clybourn Street; thence North 85o49’47” East along the south line of Clybourn Street, 149.60 feet; thence South 61o22’30” East, 58.66 feet; thence North 85o24’53” East, 29.58 feet; thence North 55o57’48” East, 29.80 feet; thence North 22o12’20” East, 49.93 feet; thence North 85o45’50” East, 349.00 feet to the point of beginning.

This parcel contains 1.0957 acres, more or less.

 

2. Commencing at the Southeast corner of said Southwest quarter; thence North 00o24’46” East along the east line of said Southeast quarter, 1,997.15 feet to the reference line of Clybourn Street; thence South 85o49’47” West along said reference line, 186.51 feet; thence South 03o37’41” West, 302.79 feet to the point of beginning; thence continuing South 03o37’41” West, 194.79 feet; thence North 73o30’14” West, 35.14 feet; thence North 11o58’57” East 40.63 to a point on curve with a radius of 1,485.00 feet; thence along said curve to the right with a long chord bearing of North 14o26’41” East and long chord of 127.59 feet, a distance of 127.63 feet; thence North 15o14’06” East, 21.90 feet to the point of beginning.

 

This parcel contains 0.08 acres, more or less of land already in use exclusively for highway purposes; and

 

Whereas, The deeds of conveyance, besides conveying property to the City, also will dedicate the conveyed parcels as public right-of-way for public street purposes; and

 

Whereas, The City Plan Commission has approved the acquisition and dedication of these properties as public right-of-way for street purposes; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City is authorized to accept quit claim deeds from the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for property necessary to open portions of East Clybourn Street between North Van Buren Street and North Harbor Drive as public right-of-way for street purposes as legally described above and illustrated in Exhibit A.
