Title:

Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a 2018 Beat Patrol Overtime Grant.

Analysis:

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a Beat Patrol Overtime Grant from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Justice, in the amount of $150,000 which is entirely funded by the Grantor. The purpose of this grant is to provide overtime funding for additional officers whose primary duty is beat patrol in various parts of the City. This grant shall run for the period of January 1, 2018, through December 31, 2018.

 Body:

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Justice for overtime for additional beat patrol in various parts of the City; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 01/01/2018 to 12/31/2018 would cost $150,000 of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2018 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects fund, the following amount for the program titled: Beat Patrol Program Grant:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:

 

1.  Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.
