This resolution establishes Help Keep MKE Clean as an official City program and authorizes the City Clerk’s Office to accept and expend contributions for Help Keep MKE Clean.
Body
Whereas, Help Keep MKE Clean, #ViolenceSpreadsLikeTrash, Khalil Coleman, and Changing Lives Through Literature endeavor to empower students at Riverside University High School to create positive impacts in their local community by leading efforts in reducing violence and litter through weekly social justice education, civic engagement, social responsibility projects, and literacy enrichment; and

Whereas, Help Keep MKE Clean enables students to work in support of efforts of revitalizing Victory Over Violence Park and the Promise Zone Initiative in the Harambee neighborhood; and

Whereas, Help Keep MKE Clean is an initiative that encourages young people to get involved with the hashtag #ViolenceSpreadsLikeTrash which encourages them to make positive changes in their community; and

Whereas, Help Keep MKE Clean funds will be used to hire students of Riverside University High School to be representatives of the effort and to strategize projects throughout the winter, spring and summer months; and

Whereas, Help Keep MKE Clean created clean-ups, messaging, speak-outs, planning sessions and more to reduce trash and violence throughout the city of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, That the Common Council recognizes and supports Help Keep MKE Clean’s efforts to reduce violence and litter across the community; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Help Keep MKE Clean is established as an official City program; and, be it
