Title

Substitute resolution relating to quarterly reports on Residents Preference Program goals.

Analysis

This resolution directs the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works and the Office of Small Business Development-Department of Administration are to report quarterly to the Common Council on contractors failing to meet Residents Preference Program goals, and analyze the reasons these contractors are failing to meet Residents Preference Program goals and action departments are taking to address these deficiencies.

Body

Whereas, The City’s Residents Preference Program is an effective vehicle for enabling City residents to participate in employment opportunities created by projects receiving public funding; and

 

Whereas, Failure of contractors to meet their Residents Preference Program goals deprives residents of employment opportunities project contractors agreed to provide; and

 

Whereas, Regular reports to the Common Council on contractors failing to meet Residents Preference Program goals will provide the Common Council with the oversight needed to address these deficiencies; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works and the Office of Small Business Development-Department of Administration are directed to report quarterly to the Common Council on contractors failing to meet Residents Preference Program goals; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, The Commissioner and the Office of Small Business Development-Department of Administration shall analyze the reasons these contractors are failing to meet Residents Preference Program goals and actions departments are taking to address these deficiencies.
