Analysis
Resolution directing the Commissioner of Public Works and Comptroller to enter into an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the development, implementation and funding of traffic control and other safety measures necessary to mitigate traffic diversion on City streets due to construction activity on the Marquette Interchange and Valley Bridge Project in 2017 and 2018. The traffic control and other safety measures apply to facilities for motor vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles. The total cost of these measures is $225,000 of which 100 percent is grantor funded.

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be begin structure and other maintenance work on the Marquette Interchange and Valley Bridge in 2017 and 2018; and

Whereas, Construction activity is expected to result in the diversion of traffic on the local street system during this project due to lane and ramp closures on the freeway; and

Whereas, Preliminary approval has been received from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, along with a Project Agreement to be executed by the City of Milwaukee, to provide reimbursement of actual costs for necessary services and items provided by the City for local street vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic impact mitigation measures in conjunction with freeway construction; and
