Title
Substitute resolution appropriating up to $10,000 from the Common Council Contingent Fund for the purpose of securing outside counsel in various matters relating to the Milwaukee Police Department.
Analysis
This resolution appropriates up to $10,000 from the Common Council Contingent Fund into a Special Purpose Account under the Office of the City Clerk. These funds shall be released by a motion of the Common Council for the purpose of securing outside counsel to advise the Common Council on various matters relating to the Milwaukee Police Department.
Body
Whereas, From time to time, the Common Council requires the expertise of outside legal counsel to provide advice about matters of special importance to the members of the Common Council; and
Whereas, Various matters relating to the Milwaukee Police Department are of such importance that in order for the Common Council to act in a manner that is knowledgeable, reasonable and responsible to the residents of the City, the advice of outside counsel is necessary; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that up to $10,000 is appropriated from the 2017 Common Council Contingent Fund Special Purpose Account No. 0001-9990-C001-006300 to the Outside Counsel Special Purpose Account No. 0001-1310-S157-006300-2017 for the purpose of securing outside counsel to advise the Common Council in various matters relating to the Milwaukee Police Department; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the appropriated funds shall be released from the Outside Counsel Special Purpose Account by a motion of the Common Council; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller and other appropriate City officials are directed to take all actions necessary to fulfill the intent of this resolution.
