Analysis

This resolution urges Milwaukee County government to accept the City of Milwaukee’s municipal identification as a valid form of identification.

 

Body

Whereas, On July 26, 2016, the Common Council passed Common Council Resolution File 160193 establishing a citywide municipal identification program; and

 

Whereas, The Milwaukee identification card has filled a void by providing an official form of personal identification for many residents who currently lack identification; and

 

Whereas, Milwaukee County supports many cultural attractions including the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Mitchell Park Domes, the Milwaukee County Zoo, the Milwaukee Public Museum and 15 golf courses; and

 

Whereas, Milwaukee County administers and maintains the county bus system, the County court system, sports facilities, community centers, nature centers and over 140 gold-medal winning parks totaling nearly 15,000 acres; and

 

Whereas, Many Milwaukee County programs require patrons to provide proof of residency to make reservations, enter buildings, or receive discounts; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council urges Milwaukee County government to accept the City of Milwaukee’s municipal identification as a valid form of identification; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That upon adoption of this resolution, the City Clerk shall send copies of this resolution to the Office of the County Executive of Milwaukee County and to each member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors.
