Ald. Bohl moved approval. (Prevailed 4-0) 3rd and 6th Aldermanic Districts N. Pierce St. - E. Center St. to E. Burleigh St. (ST211120159): Concrete pavement reconstruction, replace all curb and gutter, replace sidewalk and driveway approaches where necessary, narrow street from 38 feet to 36 feet, sodding (7-foot width of tree border area), and grading. Ald. Kovac stated he had 10 in favor and 9 opposed, he stated the project is for a wider tree border, narrower street and traffic flow issues. George Brush 3021 N Pierce St stated narrowing the street would be a disaster because of the bus traffic from Pierce School and this will not allow cars to pass in the winter. Michael Ziedler 2737 N Pierce St stated he lives across the street from Pierce School and there are school buses and parent traffic that cause a lot of congestion. There is an automatic narrowing during the winter because of the snow. Nancy Morris 2970 N Pierce St stated she and her renters don’t like the narrowing of the streets. Ald. Bohl moved approval. Analysis
This resolution confirms the report of the Commissioner of Public Works, as modified by the Common Council Committee, on projects for which Public Hearings have been held. The resolution authorizes the levying of special assessments and directs the installation and construction of said public improvements. The City cost of these projects approved by this resolution is estimated to be $4,133,900. The total estimated cost of these projects is $5,280,000.

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted preliminary resolutions, determining it necessary and in the public interest to construct and levy special assessments for the following improvements:

2nd Aldermanic District

W. Medford Ave. - W. Congress St. to N. 68th St. (TD04284001/ST211160121): Asphalt pavement resurfacing, replace curb and gutter, sidewalk and driveway approaches where necessary, sodding (7-foot width of tree border area), and grading. (Assessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $ 32,500); Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $5,000; TID-42 Funds $475,000). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $700,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2016 construction season.
