Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to enter into formal service contracts to allow Buildings and Fleet Services to maintain already authorized service levels.

Body
Whereas, Buildings and Fleet Services of the Department of Public Works currently provides numerous services to the Department of Public Works and other Departments and Agencies; and

Whereas, These services are already authorized and funded in current Operation and Maintenance, Reimbursable, and Capital Budgets; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works has historically utilized formal contracts to provide some of these services including custodial; security guard; elevator maintenance; and maintenance of building computer systems including access control, mechanical systems control and fire, life/safety systems; and

Whereas, Buildings and Fleet Services has historically utilized informal contracts to assist in providing some of these services such as floor coverings; landscaping; mechanical systems repair; moving services; plumbing repairs; overhead door repairs; messenger services; and roof repairs; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works and Buildings and Fleet Services have determined that in order to continue to provide currently authorized service levels it is necessary and would be more efficient, to increase the number of services that are provided in part or completely by formal service contracts; and

Whereas, These new formal service contracts would include some of the services that are currently provided through informal service contracts and include new formal contracts for board-up services; and building trade services such as carpentry, electrical, masonry, and p...
