Title
Resolution approving Amendment No. 1 to the Green Tree Business Park Redevelopment Plan, in the 9th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
Adoption of this resolution by at least two-thirds vote of the Common Council will approve a redevelopment plan amendment for the above-identified project area to designate properties for acquisition by the Redevelopment Authority and to expand permitted uses in the project area. Such approval is a prerequisite for exercising the powers granted to the Redevelopment Authority under Wisconsin law for implementation of the amendment following adoption of this resolution.

Whereas, In File No. 030357 adopted November 5, 2003, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee (“Council”) approved a Redevelopment Plan prepared by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee (“Authority”) for approximately 65 acres of undeveloped land formerly known as Bacher Farms and located in the vicinity of North 60th Street and West Green Tree Road that identified the land as the Green Tree Business Park Project Area; and

Whereas, Approximately 25 acres in the Green Tree Business Park has been identified by the United States Department of Labor (“DOL”) as a desirable location for the Milwaukee Job Corps, a federally funded job training facility, because of its proximity to area employers as well as its easy accessibility by DOL’s target market for trainees; and

Whereas, In order to allow DOL to develop the Job Corps campus in the Green Tree Business Park Project Area, Amendment No. 1 to the Green Tree Business Park Redevelopment Plan (“Amendment”) was prepared, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File, to allow educational and residential use in a portion of the project area and to designate all property in the project area to be acquired by the Authority; and
