Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute the Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming and construction of the Marsupial Bridge. The Marsupial Bridge is a bicycle/pedestrian bridge that will be suspended from the Holton Street Viaduct. The project will be funded 80 percent by Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds, with the remaining 20 percent being paid by Tax Incremental District No. 22 funds.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has actively promoted the expansion of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and

Whereas, The Brady Street Business Improvement District (B.I.D. #11) has proposed a project known as the Marsupial Bridge, that would provide a vital link to the bicycle and pedestrian route system just north of downtown Milwaukee; and

Whereas, The Marsupial Bridge would connect the neighborhoods on each side of the Milwaukee River; and

Whereas, Bicycle and pedestrian projects such as the Marsupial Bridge proposal are eligible for the state's Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee applied for CMAQ funds to design and construct the Marsupial Bridge; and

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) has approved this application and submitted a Project Agreement to be executed by the City of Milwaukee for the programming and construction of the project with federal aid under the CMAQ program; now, therefore, be it
