Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant. (Police Department)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and fund a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance through the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance and the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office in the amount of $332,754 with a city share of $200,960 and a grantor share of $131,794. The purpose of the project is to reduce the volume of controlled substances in the Milwaukee Area. This is a continuing grant and does not involve any new positions. This grant funds three office Assistant II positions for twelve months.
BODY:
Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.579, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance through the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance and the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office for a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement grant; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2001 would cost $332,754 of which, $200,960 (60%) would be provided by the city and $131,794 (40%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of this grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2001 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project titled "Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant":
