Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works and the Comptroller to execute the State Municipal Agreement for the City of Milwaukee water main relocation, at USH 18 and USH 45, as necessitated by the Zoo Interchange’s Core, Phase I contract. Total estimated cost of $501,000, with an estimated grantor share of $450,000 and an estimated City share of $51,000.

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) has scheduled the rehabilitation of the Zoo Interchange in the City of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has scheduled the reconstruction of USH 45 in the north leg of the Zoo Interchange, to be constructed from the fall of 2014 through the fall of 2015; and

Whereas, Relocation of a Milwaukee Water Works water main in USH 18 is necessitated by the reconstruction of USH 45 in the north leg of the Zoo Interchange, in conjunction with the Zoo Interchange’s Core, Phase I contract; and

Whereas, Wisconsin Statue 84.295(4m) indicates that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will pay 90% of the cost of alteration, rehabilitation, and relocation of Municipal utilities with the responsible jurisdiction liable for the remaining 10% of the cost; and

Whereas, In order for the City to be reimbursed for the 90% share of the water main relocation construction cost necessitated by the Zoo Interchange’s Core, Phase I contract, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation requires a State Municipal Agreement, in accord with WISDOT ...
