Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the appropriate City officials to transfer $200,000 from the Development Opportunities Fund account to a new subaccount. The funds will be used to help complete the catalytic development project being developed by the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation, known as the Todd Wehr Metcalfe Park Community Center and is located in the Metcalfe Park neighborhood at 34th and North Avenue.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee's Capital Budget provides for the Development Opportunities Fund; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has an ongoing commitment to the revitalization of neighborhoods; and

Whereas, The Todd Wehr Metcalfe Park Community Center project located in the Metcalfe Park neighborhood at North 34th Street and West North Avenue is a catalytic neighborhood revitalization project; and

Whereas, This unique project is recognized as a national model for the development of new neighborhood schools and youth-serving agencies because of the joint development and sharing of space by the new Ralph H. Metcalfe MPS neighborhood school and the Roger and Leona Fitzsimonds Branch of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee; and

Whereas, A City agency, the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation ("NIDC"), is developing this project on behalf of the City of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Public Schools, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee; and

Whereas, The $10,000,000 plus development budget for this project has been funded by corporate, individual, and foundation donations, as well as by grants from the Federal and County Government, the City's Community Block Grant Administration, and the Milwaukee Public Schools; and
