This resolution will permit the Redevelopment Authority to convey said land according to the conditions in the Land Disposition Report, approve the surplus and blight designation of the City-owned vacant lots in the area for acquisition by the Redevelopment Authority and approve the blight designation of two private parcels.
BODY:
Whereas, On November 24, 1998, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted File No. 981155 that authorized sale of land owned by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee ("Authority") in the vicinity of North 14th Street and West Juneau Avenue to SOS Children's Village of Wisconsin, Inc., ("Redeveloper") for housing development; and

Whereas, The Option to Purchase with the Redeveloper expired, but the Redeveloper has requested that the Option to Purchase be renewed so it can complete its fundraising activities and that the project be modified slightly; and

Whereas, Since the project was first conceived, additional lots in the area have been acquired by the City of Milwaukee ("City") through tax foreclosure and would be suitable for this project or other area development, but first must be declared surplus to municipal needs and declared blighted pursuant to Section 66.431 of Wisconsin Statutes; and
