Whereas, The Historic Preservation Commission met on December 5, 2022 to consider granting a Certificate of Appropriateness for the demolition of the existing building at 1101 W. Historic Mitchell Street and the construction of a new five-story mixed use building at the same location, 1101 W. Historic Mitchell Street, in the Mitchell Street Historic District, for Zuwena Cotton
; and
Whereas, The Commission denied the Certificate by a vote of 3 ayes and 4 noes; and
Whereas, The applicant appealed the decision relating to denial to the Zoning, Neighborhood and Development Committee at its meeting of January 10, 2023; and
Whereas, The Committee, by a vote of five (5) ayes and zero (o) noes reversed the decision of the Historic Preservation Commission, now, therefore, be it,
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the appeal of the Certificate of Appropriateness for the demolition of the existing building at 1101 W. Historic Mitchell Street and the construction of a new five-story mixed use building at the same location, 1101 W. Historic Mitchell Street, in the Mitchell Street Historic District, for Zuwena Cotton is granted provided that no permit for demolition may be issued unless the ap...
