Analysis
This resolution authorizes City officials to execute an agreement for wholesale water service to the City of New Berlin.

Body
Whereas, The Common Council, on Resolution File No. 020205, authorized the Water Works to negotiate an agreement for wholesale water service with the City of New Berlin; and

Whereas, The terms of an agreement for the sale of water to the City of New Berlin were drafted by the Water Works and submitted to New Berlin; and

Whereas, Both parties have agreed in principle to the terms and provisions of this agreement; and

Whereas, Water availability is among a number of issues regarding regional
cooperation in southeastern Wisconsin including transportation,
sprawl, economic development and job creation; and

Whereas, The water service agreement between the cities of Milwaukee
and New Berlin will foster a new spirit of cooperation that improves the
quality of life for the citizens of both communities; and

Whereas, The City of New Berlin will subsequently take this agreement before their Common Council for approval; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to execute the attached Agreement between the City of Milwaukee and the City of New Berlin for the purchase of water at wholesale; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Water Works file a fully executed copy of the agreement with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin; and, be it

Further Resolved, That leaders from both New Berlin and Milwaukee utilize this water sale agreement to jointly send the message throughout the State of Wisconsin that the key to our mutually successful fut...
