This resolution directs the Department of Employee Relations to study the feasibility of retroactively providing hourly wage supplements to certain non-management employees while on special assignments related to flood impact mitigation.

 

Body

Whereas, In early August 2025, severe flash floods occurred in the city of Milwaukee and in the surrounding areas; and

Whereas, The flooding caused tens of millions of dollars in damages according to initial estimates determined by Wisconsin Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency; and


Whereas, Many City workers from the Department of Public Works, the Department of Neighborhood Services, and the Milwaukee Health Department worked on special assignments related to flood impact mitigation; and


Whereas, The Federal Government announced a federal disaster assistance package totaling $29.8 million dollars for the affected areas on September 11, 2025; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Employee Relations is directed to work with the Department of Administration - Office of Budget and Management to study the feasibility of retroactively providing hourly wage supplements to certain non-management employees while on special assignments related to flood impact mitigation; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Department of Employee Relations shall submit a report of its findings to the Common Council within 45 days of adoption of this resolution.
