HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION

Minutes note: Mr. Jakubovich spoke on this matter. This building was originally owned by Bradley Tech High School, across the street, as a shop class, but was then sold. The wall along the alley was rebulit by students using cream city brick. The exterior has been left completely bare. The mothball certificate would give the owner more time to work on the building without getting building code citations from the city. The building was built in 1875. The goal is to rebuild the front as accurately as possible, with some changes to the rear and front to meet the interior. The mothball is being asked for one year.
Larry Pachefsky, 526 W. National Ave., here for his son, the building owner. It was built by same architect who built City Hall. The siding was removed prior to his son's purchase by the school students. The house has a new roof, but it is not weathertight on the sides.
Mr. Hoeschen replaced by Ms. Keating Kahn, who voted in favor of this item. | Pass | 6:0 |
