Title
Substitute resolution relating to the addition of a tree planting request option to the MKE Mobile Action App.
Analysis
This resolution directs the Department of Public Works to work with the Department of Administration-Information Technology Management Division to add a tree planting request option to the Milwaukee Mobile Action App.
Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Mobile Action app allows residents to report City issues and access City services by providing information and photos from a mobile device; and

Whereas, Users of the Mobile Action app can report problems like potholes, abandoned vehicles, litter and illegal dumping, traffic signal problems, street light outages, tall weeds and grass, or graffiti; and

Whereas, The Mobile Action app allows users to request a variety of services, including the pickup of bulky items and tree pruning; and

Whereas, Making it easier for residents to suggest sites for planting additional trees could increase the City’s urban tree canopy; and

Whereas, Increasing the City’s urban tree canopy has multiple benefits, including; reducing the urban heat island effect, improving air quality, managing storm water runoff, improving physical and mental health, and enhancing community resilience to climate change; and

Whereas, The 2026 Budget was adopted by Common Council File Number 250001 on November 7, 2025; and

Whereas, Amendment 66 placed a footnote in the 2026 Budget directing the Commissioner of Public Works to work with the Department of Administration-Information Technology Division to add a tree planting request option to the MKE mobile Action App now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Department of Public Works is directed to work with the Department of Administration-Information Technology Division to add a tree planting request option to the Milwaukee Mobile Action App.
