Analysis
This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to dedicate land as public right-of-way for alley purposes, which is necessary for the renovation of the Grand Theatre into the new home for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
Body
Whereas, On May 8, 2018, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee (“Common Council”) adopted File No. 180095, which approved selling Redevelopment Authority-owned property to MVP Milwaukee Wells, LLC and amending a Cooperation, Reimbursement and Redevelopment Agreement with Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Inc. and TNSH Landlord, LLC to enable the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra to redevelop the Grand Theatre; and
Whereas, On May 30, 2018, the Common Council adopted File No. 171381, which vacated a portion of North 2nd Street and an alley to enable the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra to expand the Grand Theatre building; and
Whereas, On September 5, 2018, the Common Council adopted File No. 180531, which approved Certified Survey Map No. 3186 to create a new parcel for the Grand Theatre project; and
Whereas, A portion of land owned by MVP Milwaukee Wells, LLC must be dedicated as new public alleys (“Property”) to further enable the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s redevelopment of the Grand Theatre; and
Whereas, The legal description of the Property to be dedicated is as follows and is illustrated in Exhibit A (a deed from MVP Milwaukee Wells, LLC), a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File:
Part of Lots 5 and 6 of Block 60 in The Plat of the Town of Milwaukee on the West side of the River and part of Vacated North 2nd Street, all being a part of the Southwest 1/4 and Southeast 1/4 of the Northeast 1/4 of Section 29, Town 7 North, Range 22 East, in the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, which...
