Title:
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Milwaukee Police Citizen Academy Program grant.
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept, and fund a Milwaukee Police Citizen Academy Program grant from the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance in the amount of $21,377.02. The purpose of this program is to provide Milwaukee citizens with training and experience in the legal and practical principles of policing in the City of Milwaukee. The graduated citizens will be better able to assist the police department in reducing crime and forging positive police community relations.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance, for a Milwaukee Police Citizen Academy Program grant; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 11/01/09 to 12/31/10 would cost $21,377.02, of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance, is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2009 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for a Milwaukee Police Citizen Academy Program Grant:
