Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City Clerk to expend up to $10,000 from the Community and Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account for Bronzeville Week, to be held from August 3^rd to August 10^th, 2024.

Body

Whereas, The Community and Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account is used to promote the City’s economic development programs; and

Whereas, The Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District is a City of Milwaukee redevelopment initiative inspired by Milwaukee’s original Bronzeville District of the early and mid 1900’s; and

Whereas, Bronzeville Week has been established as an official City event (Common Council File Number 170255) and August 3-10 has been designated as Bronzeville Week for 2024 (Common Council File Number 230706); and

Whereas, Bronzeville Week is a vibrant celebration of African American culture, history, art, and entertainment; and

Whereas, Bronzeville Week showcases local businesses, provides opportunities for local vendors, and furthers the economic development of the District; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Clerk is authorized to expend up to $10,000 from the 2024 Community and Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account No. 0001-1310-S123-006300 to support Bronzeville Week.
