Whereas, Young people are especially impacted by violence, and homicide disproportionately victimizes youths between 15 and 19 years of age; and
Whereas, Evidence-based prevention programs can reduce interpersonal violence and domestic abuse, by providing young people with skills, education, and support; and
Whereas, The Youth Victory Over Violence initiative provides education and support to young people relating to mental health, personal safety, and self defense; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that April 26 to May 2, 2026, is designated as Youth Victory Over Violence Week in the City of Milwaukee; and, be it
Further Resolved, That all City departments are directed to assist as necessary to make Youth Victory over Violence Week a successful event.
