Substitute resolution amending the City of Milwaukee’s State Legislative Package to express the City’s support for “The Wisconsin Innovation Network (WIN) Bill”.

Analysis

This resolution amends the City of Milwaukee’s State Legislative Package to express the City’s support for the Wisconsin Innovation Network Bill.

Body

Whereas, The continued emergence of cryptocurrencies has created both opportunities and significant consumer protection risks; and

 

Whereas, The Wisconsin Innovation Network (“WIN”) Bill would create a regulatory framework for the use of cryptocurrencies within Wisconsin while prioritizing consumer protection; and

 

Whereas, The bill also establishes a pilot program aimed to provide the public with cryptocurrency education and to fund grant opportunities for crypto-entrepreneurs; now, therefore, be it  

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Administration-Intergovernmental Relations Division is directed to seek introduction and passage of the WIN Bill, which furthers cryptocurrency education and commerce in the State of Wisconsin; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That Common Council Resolution File Number 241415 is amended by inserting the following item in the document attached to the file as “Amended State Legislative Packet”

Economic Support: Cryptocurrency Education, Commerce, and Consumer Protection

Seek introduction and passage of the WIN Bill to boost education, commercial opportunities, and consumer protection related to cryptocurrencies.
