Substitute resolution relating to the promotion of internship and apprenticeship opportunities for the Youth Council.
Analysis
This resolution directs the office of the City Clerk to engage the Youth Council to help promote internship and apprenticeship opportunities.
Body
Whereas, Internships and apprenticeships are an effective strategy to widen the hiring pipeline to accommodate young people and recent graduates and to materially invest in the professional potential of Milwaukee’s young people; and
Whereas, The Milwaukee Youth Council is well positioned to reach its peers provided it is provided adequate support from Common Council-City Clerk staff; and
Whereas, The 2026 Budget was adopted by common Council File Number 250001 on November 7, 2025; and
Whereas, Amendment 37 placed a footnote in the 2026 Budget directing the City Clerk to engage the Youth Council to help promote internship and apprenticeship opportunities; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the office of the City Clerk shall engage the Youth Council to help promote internship and apprenticeship opportunities; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Clerk shall provide an update of these activities to the Common Council within 60 days of the adoption of this resolution.
