Analysis
Resolution authorizing the City of Milwaukee’s Department of Public Works (“DPW”) to execute an intergovernmental cooperation agreement between the City of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Public Schools (“MPS”) setting forth the maintenance responsibilities of DPW and MPS for the Rogers Street Academy Pedestrian Mall.
Body
WHEREAS, MPS desires to create recreational space in the right-of-way adjacent to the Boys & Girls Club property located at 2404 West Rogers Street; and
WHEREAS, Common Council File 231134 created the Rogers Street Pedestrian Mall in South 24th Street from West Rogers Street to the east-west alley bounded by South 23rd Street, South 24th Street, West Rogers Street and West Burnham Street; and
WHEREAS, a proposed soccer field, fencing, lighted bollards and other amenities desired by MPS in the pedestrian mall are not typical items in the right-of-way that DPW would maintain; and
WHEREAS, MPS is willing to assume maintenance responsibilities of the amenities that they desire in the pedestrian mall; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are authorized and directed to execute an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement between the City of Milwaukee’s Department of Public Works and Milwaukee Public Schools, in substantially the same form as attached to this file, relating to the assignment of maintenance responsibilities at the Rogers Street Pedestrian Mall; and, be it
