Title
Resolution related to acceptance and funding of a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant (Police Department).
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance through the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, in the amount of $394,080 with a grantor share of $166,864 and a city share of $227,216. The purpose of the project is to reduce the volume of controlled substances in the Milwaukee Area. This is a continuing grant that currently funds one Sergeant position and two Police Officer positions.

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.738, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance through the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant in the amount of $394,080; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020 would cost $394,080 of which, $166,864 would be provided by the grantor and $227,216 would be provided by the city; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of this grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2020 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project titled “Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant”:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the 2020 Positions Ordinance be amended as follows to reflect the change in footnote (N):
