This resolution authorizes the City Clerk to expend up to $83,300 from the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account for various events and initiatives in 2026.

Body

Whereas, The purpose of the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account is to provide resources to support community events that promote peace and violence prevention, with the intention that allocations from the SPA will be matched by contributions from local organizations; and


Whereas, The events and initiatives receiving allocations of funding under this resolution all provide opportunities for the City to support the promotion of peace and the prevention of violence, in alignment with the intended purpose of the MKE Community Excellence Fund; now, therefore, be it


Resolved, by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Clerk is directed to expend up to $83,300 from the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account (0001 1310 S246 006300) in the following amounts for payment or reimbursement of expenses related to 2026 events:


Black History Month

Bronzeville Week                                                                                                                               Up to $25,000

Cesar Chavez Day                                                                                                                              Up to $11,000

Girls' Day at City Hall                                                                                                         Up to $5,000

Further Resolved, That the amount paid or reimbursed from the MKE Community Excellence Fund for each event shall be matched by contributions from local organizations for that event.
