Analysis

This resolution authorizes City officials to issue an occupancy permit to Jens Construction Corp. allowing them to close South 2^nd Street between West Scott Street and West Greenfield Avenue, to undertake maintenance work at the Rockwell Automation building at 1201 South 2^nd Street.

Body

Whereas, Jens Construction Corp. has been retained by Rockwell Automation to replace windows on the Rockwell Automation building at 1201 South 2^nd Street spanning over South 2^nd Street; and

Whereas, Jens Construction Corp. has requested to occupy the entire roadway of South 2^nd Street between West Scott Street and West Greenfield Avenue; and

Whereas, The size of the crane needed to replace the windows necessitates that the entire roadway be closed; and

Whereas, The roadway closure is expected to take place between May 20, 2013 and August 31, 2013; and

Whereas, The roadway will be open to traffic between June 26, 2013 and July 7, 2013; and

Whereas, Jens Construction Corp. will be responsible for all required traffic control in accordance with City requirements and permits; and

Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works may approve temporary occupancy of up to one-third of the public right-of-way, while temporary use beyond that point must be approved by the Common Council; now, therefore be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to issue a permit to Jens Construction Corp. allowing occupancy of South 2^nd Street between West Scott Street and West Greenfield Avenue, for a period between May 20, 2013 and August 31, 2013.
