This resolution urges the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee Board of Commissioners and the Milwaukee Public Library Board of Trustees to follow the guidance set forth in Common Council File Number 240414, a substitute ordinance relating to the preparation of members appointed to plural bodies.
Body
Whereas, Common Council File Number 240414, a substitute ordinance relating to the preparation of members appointed to plural bodies, requires the Department of Employee Relations to prepare individuals appointed to City of Milwaukee boards, commissions, and committees for appropriate and effective participation in plural bodies; and
Whereas, Part 1 of Common Council File Number 240414 requires that members of enumerated plural bodies, excluding the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee Board of Commissioners and the Milwaukee Public Library Board of Trustees, complete ethics and harassment training provided by the Department of Employee Relations; and
Whereas, Part 2 of Common Council File Number 240414 requires that the Department of Employee Relations prepare individuals appointed to seven enumerated plural bodies, excluding the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee Board of Commissioners and the Milwaukee Public Library Board of Trustees, in understanding the expectations of, and resources available to, said bodies within 120 days of taking the oath of office; and
Whereas, Common Council File Number 240414 reflects the Common Council’s desire that all individuals appointed to City of Milwaukee plural bodies serve these bodies ethically, effectively, and efficiently; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee Board of Commissioners and the Milwaukee Public Library Board of Trustees are urged to follow the guidance set forth in Common Council File Number 240414, a substitute ordinance relating to the preparation of members appointed to plural bodies; and, be it
Further Resolved, The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee Board of Commissioners and the Milwaukee Public Library Board of Trustees are encouraged to collaborate with the Department of Employee Relations in following guidance set forth in Common Council File Number 240414; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee Board of Commissioners and the Milwaukee Public Library Board of Trustees are requested to report annually to the Common Council regarding their progress in following guidance set forth in Common Council File Number 240414.
