Title
Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention grant from Michigan Public Health Institute.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept, and fund a National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention grant from Michigan Public Heath Institute in the amount of $21,400, with a City share of $0 and a grantor share of $21,400. The funding will compensate a consultant to assist with the project objective of launching a Community Action Team that will work to enact the recommendations identified by Milwaukee’s FIMR team.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from Michigan Public Health Institute to assist with enacting the recommendations identified by Milwaukee’s Fetal & Infant Mortality (FIMR) team.
; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant program from 01/01/2024 to 06/30/2024 will cost $21,400 comprised of $21,400, or 100% grantor share and $0, or 0% City share; now, therefore, be it;
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it
Further Resolved, that the Commissioner of Health or their designee is authorized to execute the grant agreement for these funds; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent account of the 2024 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled FIMR-Michigan Public Health Institute:

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project Levels; budget to these Project/Grant values the amounts required under the grant agreement; and be it
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount appropriated sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Expend from the 2024 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff; and, be it
