From: Jeremy Lucas Sent: Wednesday, October 29, 2025 5:11 PM To: Elmer, Linda; Hillard, Christopher Cc: Bauman, Robert Subject: HPC Meeting 11/3 FIle 250995 Historic Preservation Committee, I'm writing in opposition to File 250995 granting Permanent Historic Designation to the Milwaukee Auditorium and Milwaukee Arena. Both of these facilities were important places in the history of Milwaukee however their practical utility has continued to wane as time moves forward. This area of downtown has immense potential with the replacement of the Milwaukee County Safety Building, the vacation of the current Milwaukee Public Museum and the forecasted disinvestment of the Milwaukee State Office Building on the corner of 6th and Wells. In conjunction with the two sites in this resolution, an opportunity for generational growth and revitalization is presented to Milwaukee and our collective path forward would be greatly impeded by this proposed historical designation. As noted in the document on the Historic Preservation Commission website entitled 'Preservation Topics 1', the Historic Preservation Commission is seeking to give recognition to a cultural resource that is still a viable asset to the community. As such, the proper determination of that viability remains with the Wisconsin Center District Board and not this committee. I urge the committee to reject Permanent Historic Designation in File 250995. Jeremy Lucas Jeremy K Lucas Milwaukee, WI 414-403-7290
