Minutes note: Mr. Reggie Moore, Injury and Violence Prevention Director
share the following update regarding an innovative, youth-led campaign to prevent and reduce carjacking in the city of Milwaukee. Launched in 2019, this was a collaborative campaign between Ignite Change, MHD’s Office of Violence Prevention, Running Rebels, and Unite MKE with support from the Milwaukee Fire and Police Departments. The Office of Violence Prevention remains committed to continuing this effort in 2020 to ensure that our streets are safer for everyone.

Minutes note: Office of Violence Prevention requested to appear before Youth Council.
Ms. Maliya Lor, representing the Greater Milwaukee Foundation as a Neighborhood work Support staff in the Sherman Park and North Division neighborhoods. Ms. Lor is hoping to get input and participation from Youth Council to put together a resident program in these neighborhoods.
From Wisconsin’s 16th District Representative Kalan Haywood (former Youth Council President) invites the Youth Council on Thursday, February 27th, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM; Rep. Fields and Representative Haywood will be hosting the first inaugural Youth Empowerment Luncheon.
The goal of this luncheon is to give young people from across the state an opportunity to have a seat at the table when it comes to how we legislate at a state level. to create this positive impact on the future of young America. The topic of the conversation will be business development, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment.
Ms. McHenry distributed the packet of information to members traveling to the National League of Cities, Congressional City Conference (Washington DC).
